Bowen Therapy

Dr. Romi is trained in Bowen Therapy, a body manipulation therapy that uses very gentle pressure to stimulate the brain to bring the body into a parasympathetic state that allows for rest, recuperate, and reboot the body.

Bowen Therapy is a physical therapy created by Mr. Thomas A. Bowen in the 1950s in Australia.  The treatment involves performing technical moves on muscles, tendons and ligaments of the body in a systemic sequence to address different injuries and health conditions.

The Bowen Therapist uses thumbs and fingers on precise points to perform rolling-type moves that activate nerve bundles below the muscle and soft tissue of the body.

Bowen therapy promotes healing by directing the body to focus its attention to the area of injury or imbalance. By stimulating meridian points in a systematic order and with carefully timed pauses in between, Bowen Therapy promotes the body to reset, repair and balance itself. It is one of the safest, fastest and most effective modalities for treating pain, chronic illness and improving overall health.

Treatments are usually scheduled one week apart. The therapy is performed while the patient is lying down. Although it usually requires 3 to 5 sessions for significant results, many patients experience improvements and a greater sense of well-being after their first treatment.
